I was looking at mouser today and came across these 50UF caps at 500 and 900 wvdc for only $12.61 each , and thought what a low impedance power supply they will make for a new build , i was looking for cathode bypass caps for a 300B amp i'm building , the last ones i bought were over $26 for 250 volt speaker crossover caps .

Will be using these in my next build as power supply and cathode bypass caps

Nice find! (y)

For those preferring Digikey, the part numbers are: P15862-ND and BC2874-ND

Using those biggies as filters in a power supply might cause massive currents at turn-on, possibly zapping the rectifier tube. Most rectifier data sheets specify a maximum cap value for at least the first cap in a C-L-C filter.

Thanks for the heads up!

All the more reason for a CL90 or other surge protector on the line side of the transformers.

Cheers!

i ordered 16 of the Vishay 50UF at 900 volts , and 10 of the 1 uf 900 volt caps .will use them in my latest build and 6 of them updating a heathkit W-5M , so i can get rid of all the series caps in the power supply
