I only live 40 miles from New Mexico, but Fed Ex had to take my package through 2 other states and maybe Mexico.

Carlsbad, that can only be one item... IRON!

I have them send USPS and it's like Carlsbad --> Albuqurque --> Seattle --> Vancouver --> me :))

That is swift for FedEx. I had an item sent from China. It arrived in NY in one day, but it took 5 days to get to me from NY.

Delivery companies like Fed Ex and UPS use a hub and spoke distribution system. Depending on the destination packages flow to a local sorting hub and then to a hub usually near a major airport then by plane to the next hub. One of the drawbacks is that the package can sometimes take a round-a-bout route.

You'ld think they would send it to Albuquerque, instead of Fort Worth, like UPS does. Then just 4 hours to Aztek, and 3 to my house. If they start charging a carbon tax....

Had a similar experience using China's EMS. Got to JFK in no time, then took a week to get to me (I can get to JFK in 15 min by cab)

My packages to the US are 3-7 days. Maybe they actually hire manpower to do the job!
