All 6CG7 front end schematic?

Postby Blair » Sun Dec 01, 2013 10:15 am

Has anyone done a Poseidon with all 6CG7s? Regarding the LM334z, should it be replaced with a LM317 for a slightly higher current delivery? Say 12mA or so? I think the 6CG7 sounds a bit better at 6-8 mA vs. 3mA.

Thanks!

I substituted 6CG7s in a tubesforhifi dynaco board (easy filament change) and left the LM334 intact for about 4.4 ma per tube or around 8.8 ma thru the LM334. Sounded good to me.

I think 10mA is the max current for the LM234Z/LM334Z. Stick to that and you'll be fine. Much, much quieter than a high current device.
