Poseidon MKIII to run EL34 tubes

Postby justinsweber » Sun Nov 14, 2010 5:50 pm

If I want to run EL34 tubes instead of KT88s.
I just need to lower the bias down to 580mv right? Bit high for a EL34?

I was looking at the MKIV setup... didnt see much diff... but woudl want to get input before trying.

Thanx.

EL34's will work fine but set the bias at 40ma - 45ma per tube. Also replace the 5AR4 with a 5U4 to reduce the B+ slightly.

I ran a set of cheap Chinese 6L6 in mine for a short while. I think I biased them around 40mA. Didn't seem to have any problems, but I didn't keep them in there long.
